Planner, Much? 🕗

Do you like to plan, develop a method of events that you want to go a certain way as a way to make you feel better about your plan, week, month etc? I know I do! I. Oh, how I love planning. It makes me feel so much more comfortable knowing that I have my “life” mapped out financially, situationally, etc. My COMFORT BLANKET if you will.

As someone who works in the business world, I have to travel for work a lot and though it has its perks, I often find myself very consumed in my plans as I balance things at home along with being gone. There have been many a time when I have made a plan to do something at home, but I didn’t know what time I would get back to be able to do it. The problem with using planning as a comfort blanket, is that feeling that you get when your plan doesn’t go the way that you have intended it to. You instantly get that feeling of stress, anxiety, worry, etc. and I don’t know about you, but once I have started to feel that way, it makes everything that you need to do that much bigger and more difficult to accomplish.

I want you to know that if you are anything like I am, someone who doesn’t take when your plans don’t go the way that you mapped them out very well. S T O P! planning is great, but life is all about plans failing, needing to reroute, and “Going With the Flow”.

Proverbs 16:9 says,”The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes His steps.”

God is the Master Plan maker. He is the one understands the big picture. In fact, he created the big picture. He is the one who knows every move that we are going to make, when we are going to make it, and in what way that we are going to do it. It is because if our all-knowing Lord, that sometimes His plans are different than ours, this causing for our plans to go off track. AND THAT’S OKAY! It really is. We have to learn that even though planning is good, it okay when they don’t always go our way. But one thing that I will tell you, is that it ALWAYS works out. His plans are so much better than ours, so we have to trust in His will and His timing, and have the FAITH that He is in control and will not let us down.

One day I was working out of town and I was concerned that I would not be able to get back in time to fulfill the commitments that I had made at home. I continued on my day, telling myself that I would finish what you could finish and that if I get to everything it was okay and if I didn’t finish everything then It would would still be okay. As I was working, I realized that I would be finishing earlier than I thought and would be able to get everything done. I was ecstatic! As I made my way back home, I felt Him saying quietly to me, “If I cause for something as simple as this to work out for you, then why would you think that I won’t do the same thing in your life regarding the plans I have for you?” It was in this moment that I realized that I have to STOP being so consumed in my plans all of the time. We have to be willing to let go, and let God have his way in our lives.

Now, I am not saying that we don’t need to plan at all because that is not at all the case. We need to plan and then plan for our plans to not go as planned. There is such a peace in knowing that God is the Master Planner and that even though things may go off course in our eyes, He already knew what was going to happen, how it would happen, the end result, which ALWAYS works out.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Stay Encouraged and Know that your life is in His hands.
