We cannot get away from God’s Word. No matter what we do. Living in a time where people feel like they make up their own rules and regulations for their lives, it’s easy to feel like we are in charge of our own destiny. But I must tell you, we are NOT. God is in control and all He asks is that you have faith and are obedient to His instructions. This goes even if you feel like it doesn’t look the way it’s supposed to or you have a better way of doing things. We must allow God to lead and guide us. I mean, He IS the creator of all things. If anyone can see the bigger picture, it’s Him. We need to trust in His direction and not look to His rules as a way to keep us from the fun stuff or as some form of a punishment that we have been given. They are to protect us, considering that we are only flesh and EXTREMELY vulnerable, and quite frankly, nothing without Him.
Being 23, and still learning about my journey and purpose in Jesus, I sometimes find myself feeling a constant battle between fleshly self (one who loves partying, secular music, self-lead,etc.) and my Spiritual self (Holy Spirit lead, conscious of God, pure). It really can be overwhelming sometimes because I know that I want to do right by Him because I need and love Him, but I also know that my flesh loved all of the nonsense that I used to be a part of as well.
In scripture Paul constantly writes about the constant battle between flesh and Spirit. Galatians 5:16-17 states,”But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for those are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.”
We must constantly be reminded that all things will pass away except for what we do for God. Everything else is only temporary and we are here with a purpose and on a mission. It is important for us to continue to reach out to God, learn to study our Bibles, and allow Him to direct and guide us along this journey with Him. Let ourselves be lead by our spirit. Who is lead by the Holy Spirit. I know it’s hard and challenging at times. I experience struggles just like the rest of us, but do be encourage as God has us in the palm of His hand. Be obedient and have faith in who He is in our lives.
Ask God to reveal to you your purpose in this life, because you do have one. You woke up this morning with breath in your body, that means you still have a job to do. Keep fighting the good fight. Challenges will come and go but with God you will ALWAYS be the last one standing!
Love you all!
