For Christmas, I got a new camera. That I’m obsessed with might I add. But when I opened it up, I took it out of the box, found the battery, the SD card and put it in, so ready to start playing with it and see all that it does. But as soon as I turned it on, the screen read “Memory Card missing”. Of course the first reaction of someone would probably be to find the directions to see where they went wrong. Well………not me. I normally, actually almost never read instructions beforehand. I like to try to put things together first and then see where I am missing later. So naturally, I took the card out several times, tried to turn it and so many other things before I found myself frustrated thinking that I had gotten the one camera that was damaged.
After another 20 minutes, I decided to go to Walgreens to purchase another card thinking that was the issue. With the packaging in my hand, I walked up to the desk to pick out my new memory card with the associate. He took my camera, opened it, & almost immediately told me that the actual memory card was missing, only the shell was in the slot. I referred to my packaging to see an even smaller card that he been in front of my face the entire time. The missing card that was exactly what I needed to get my camera to work perfectly. Feeling foolish, I thanked the man & went home.
What’s so hilarious about this story is that had I read the instructions when I opened my things initially, I would have known to put the small card in the shell, in my camera. And would have saved a trip to the store for no reason. THE JOKE WAS ON ME! Lol.
I began to wonder,” How often do we get presented with something, a challenge, and we try to go about it without reading the instructions, God’s instructions?”
How many times has something happened to us that was unexpected or have we been presented with a decision to be made, or have we made a decision and wishing that we would have responded differently? If we would have referred to instructions from the start to avoid so much drama or heartbreak we would have been so much better off………..that’s what the Bible is for.
Now I know, the Word may seem like a drag to read or you don’t understand it due to all of the highly confusing verbiage used. Right? But let me just tell you that once you find the version that best works for you, you will find yourself in such a place of peace, rest, instruction, & confirmation that the same God that did it for so many in that Book, can & will also do it for you!
4 Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next.

You, yes Y O U have the guide to such a fulfilling life, not easy, but certainly worth it because of God who loves you so much and wants you to be more than prepared to take on everything that life throws at you! I personally read The Message Bible by Eugene H. Peterson. (There is an app too!) It reads just like a story book so that I can understand what all was going on during that time. When I study the Word, I usually compare that version to another version to another to clarify what the “other wordings” mean & it makes things so much better!
I never really studied the Word when I was younger because I found it to be boring and didn’t seem to relate to me. But as I have really prayed for God to enhance my relationship with Him as well as becoming more matured, I’ve found that it truly has become so interesting to me, given me instruction on how to handle things in my life, & also opened my eyes to Who He is along with changing my perspective to things that I never would have imagined. If you feel like the Bible is boring to read, I challenge you to pray and ask God to change your heart about it and to give you a desire to do so! It’s possible & I know that once you make the transition, it will be amazing!
12 God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey.

Gods got you! I promise! So stay encouraged, trust Him, and take it one verse at a time. Meditate on it day and night and watch how things continue to get better for the good!
Yours, but more importantly His,
