take a break.

So. It’s safe to say that most of us probably have Apple Watches, fitness trackers, or just life’s little tips and tricks to stay active, healthy, and mainly to “keep it moving”. Well on my way to work last week……well let me rewind.

For the past few weeks, I have managed to “close every ring” on my Watch or meet every goal each day regarding my calorie, step, standing, and moving standards. So last week was Christmas, and as you can imagine, I was taking some much-needed time to rest and just catch up with the rest of the month. I have LITERALLY not stopped moving since December 1st. On my way to work, I get a notification on my watch that read:

And then it hit me, just because I closed not one of my “rings” yesterday doesn’t mean that I missed a beat or that anything was wrong. It was just that I was RESTING, which had been a foreign concept for the past few weeks. And that is O-KAY! It’s so easy to get to caught up in all that you have to get done and everyone’s function you committed to going to without realizing you’ve booked yourself SOLID! I do it all the time.

However, it’s okay to not “close a ring”. Give yourself a break, stay in bed all day, binge watch your favorite Netflix, drink lots of coffee, and just enjoy being present. Now I know the intent of my Watch isn’t to guilt trip me, but I’m just saying to make sure that you recharge yourself like you spend time charging others.
